Toyota Alphard & Vellfire Buyer's Guide
The Toyota Alphard and its sister the Vellfire are the status people-carriers of Asia — and among the most in-demand cars at Japanese auctions, from Hong Kong to Singapore to Malaysia.
Alphard or Vellfire?
They share a platform and engines. The Alphard has the chrome, formal front — the executive/limousine look. The Vellfire is sportier and more aggressive up front. Mechanically they’re twins; choose on styling.

Engines & trims
- 2.5L petrol — the volume seller; efficient enough for city use.
- 3.5L V6 — smooth and powerful for the top trims.
- 2.5L hybrid — strong demand where fuel costs matter.
- Top trims (Executive Lounge, SC / ZG) hold value best; leather, twin sunroofs, and rear captain’s seats add desirability.
What to check
- Grade 4 or better, interior B or better — these are used as chauffeur and family cars, so check interior wear and the third row.
- Look for odometer consistency and clean sheets on higher-mileage examples.
