Import a car from Japan to Guyana
Guyana drives on the left and imports most of its used cars from Japan. Guyana removed its general 8-year age restriction in October 2020, and since February 2025 every used-vehicle import needs an ATJ Vehicle Inspection Certificate. We bid at the auctions on RHD units, arrange the ATJ certificate and ship to Georgetown; you clear with the Guyana Revenue Authority.
A growing market for RHD Japanese cars
What Guyana requires
Guyana removed its general 8-year age restriction in October 2020, and since February 2025 every used-vehicle import requires an ATJ Vehicle Inspection Certificate uploaded with the ASYCUDA customs declaration.
No general 8-year cap
The former blanket 8-year age restriction was removed effective 1 October 2020. Some vehicle classes may still carry separate rules — we check each lot before bidding.
Right-hand drive
Guyana drives on the left and uses RHD cars — the Japanese market matches by default. Check eligibility for your specific vehicle class.
ATJ certificate & ASYCUDA
Since 1 February 2025, an ATJ Vehicle Inspection Certificate is required and must be uploaded with the ASYCUDA customs declaration. We arrange the inspection and provide the certificate.
Duties at your end. Guyana applies customs duty, excise and VAT assessed on CIF value and engine size. These are paid to the GRA and are not in the JapanAuc landed cost — confirm current bands locally.

Your JapanAuc landed cost to Georgetown
Everything JapanAuc charges is in Japanese yen and transparent: the hammer price you win at, our commission (flat ¥35,000 up to ¥1,000,000, then 3.5%), the Export Package (auction-house fee + inland transport + export handling), then ocean freight. Added up, that’s your CIF Georgetown price.
Guyanese customs duty, excise and VAT are charged separately on arrival — not part of our quote. Use the calculator for a live CIF figure, then add your local clearing costs.
